Hi to all the thousand of followers we have, lol. After spending almost a year back in our hometown visiting family and friends and working we are hitting the road again. To update a little. We started our adventure a little over two years ago with the thought of traveling and working along the way. Well life changes and in that time we were blessed with four little granddaughters.
So our plans changed and we decided to be home more often. I was also blessed with the opportunity to work for a friend doing the same thing I retired from.
Monday the 13th we finished reading the coach and jeep for our journey. Since it was late in the day when we finished we decided to park at the WalMart and start out first thing in the morning. Tuesday morning we headed out planning on stopping in Ohio. We try to drive about six hours a day or about three hundred miles. We made it to Cambridge OH and pulled into a campground just before a series of severe thunderstorms rolled through.
Tuesday morning it was off again to Indianapolis with a stop at the speedway. We spent about two hours touring the museum. Unfortunately we did not arrive in time for the tour that takes you on the track and pit row.
Wednesday we headed to Iowa. Our first stop in IA. was at the American Pickers Store from the History Channel. The store is in the little town of Le Claire right along the Mississippi River. Le Claire is one of those neat little Midwestern towns you could spend hours in shopping and dinning. From there we spent the night at the worlds largest truck stop, Iowa 80 Truckstop in Walcott IA. There was parking for 900 plus trucks plus a great truck museum. I visited the museum Thursday morning before leaving. The displays were well presented and had the history of each truck from the time it was manufactured, who owed it and how it came to the museum.
Thursday morning we headed northwest again to Forest City IA. our first big stop for the Winnebago Grand National Rally. More on that next blog! Along the way we made a stop in Dyersville IA to the Field of Dreams movie set. It was fun to walk the bases and go into the corn fields like the players in the movie.
Thanks for following along. We will try to update everyone on Saturdays or Sundays with more stories and pictures. Cathy is also on Face Book and post daily if you want to follow along.
Remember, YOLO,
Barry & Cathy
